In the Digital Radio Mondiale the abbreviated DRM mondiale being French for "worldwide" is a set of digital audio broadcasting technology intended to work over the bands presently used for AM broadcasting chiefly shortwave. DRM can fit more channels than AM at higher quality, into a given amount of bandwidth using a range of MPEG-4 codecs.
Digital Radio Mondi ale is also the name of the international non-profit consortium designing and implementing the platform.
